  • The Blinds Man is a locally owned, family business that strives to always put our customers and their vision first! It is rare for a brick and mortar window treatment business to last longer than 5 years, but we have been blessed to have been in business for over 20 years. We love taking the time to customize the window treatment shopping experience by educating our customers on our various products and how they will meet their unique needs. A part of that education is our unmatched immersive showroom where customers can see, feel, and experience all of our products and their different operating systems. The Blinds Man has a team with over 200 years of combined experience in this industry - you can trust that you will be well taken care of with us.

    • Your window treatments came in…YAY! Our professional installers will complete the installation usually within 4-6 weeks of your order being placed. Now you can boast about your new radiant addition to everyone you know!

Our consultants handle the precise measurements and our professional installers bring it all to life with the craftsmanship your home deserves. If your order includes shutters, it will be closer to 6-8 weeks. Of course, shipping delays can and do occur, but we strive to get your beautiful new window treatments in your home as soon as we can.

Selection & Design

  • Absolutely. Arched windows are a Lexington staple, but let’s be honest—they can be a pain in the butt to cover correctly. We specialize in custom-fit solutions like shutters or cellular shades that follow the curve perfectly. No awkward gaps or 'make-it-work' solutions—just tailored elegance that looks like it was built with the house. YAY for perfect fits!

  • Yes! This is one of our favorite things to show off. Many of our motorized systems—including the popular Hunter Douglas PowerView—integrate seamlessly with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit.

You can schedule your shades to close when the afternoon sun hits, or just say, "Alexa, movie time," to lower the blackout shades. Whether you're across the room or across the country, you're in total control. Ask us for a demo during your complimentary consultationit’s a total game-changer for how you live in your home.

  • The right choice depends on your needs, style, and budget. For light control and privacy, roller shades, cellular shades, and vertical blinds are excellent options. For a softer, more elegant look, consider sheer shadings or Roman shades. If energy efficiency is your priority, cellular shades are a great option, while natural materials like woven woods add warmth and texture. Motorized options are perfect for convenience and modern living.

  • The primary difference between hard and soft window treatments lies in their material and functionality…

    Hard Window Treatments

    1. Materials: Typically made from rigid, durable materials such as wood, metal, or vinyl.

    2. Examples: Blinds, shades, and shutters.

    3. Functionality: These are designed for control over light, privacy, and insulation. They offer precise adjustments, such as tilting slats or raising/lowering shades.

    Soft Window Treatments

    1. Materials: Made from fabrics, textiles, or other soft materials.

    2. Examples: Curtains, drapes, cornices, and Roman shades.

    3. Functionality: These offer a softer aesthetic and provide similar privacy, light control, and insulation, but with a more decorative appeal. They tend to add texture and color to a room.

In summary, hard treatments are typically functional and offer precise control, while soft treatments are more about adding visual appeal and softness to a space.

  • Absolutely! Many styles of window coverings come with room-darkening or blackout fabrics/liners. These are perfect for bedrooms, nurseries, and home theaters!

  • No. Everything we do is custom-made to your window's exact measurements. 'Off the shelf' usually means 'settling for a near-fit,' and we’re in the business of perfect fits.

  • It’s a common head-scratcher! Blinds have slats held by cords that lift up and down. Shutters are semi-permanent wood or composite frames with louvers that tilt. Think of shutters as 'furniture for your windows'—they add actual appraisal value to your home.

Investment & Peace of Mind

  • We offer complimentary consultations for our neighbors in Fayette, Scott, Jessamine, Woodford, Bourbon, Clark, Madison, Anderson, and Franklin counties. If you’re located outside these areas, we do require a one-time trip charge between $55–$75 depending on your location. This helps us get our experts and full-size samples out to your neck of the woods!

  • Custom window treatments are an investment in your home’s value and your daily comfort. Because every window is a different size and every fabric has a different price point, we provide exact quotes during our consultation. No guesswork, no hidden fees.

  • Yes, we are elated to now have a partnership with Wells Fargo to offer three zero-percent interest financing options to all of our customers!

  • While all of our products carry a manufacturer’s warranty, the Blinds Man also offers a one-year service warranty on all products purchased from and installed by us.

Care & Durability

  • Ease of use is of utmost importance to us. We only sell products from top-tier manufacturers with their products being designed to require MINIMAL care and cleaning. Here are some care tips to increase the longevity of your investment…

    1. Wood Products - Regular, light dusting using the provided microfiber duster. Do not use any chemicals or household cleaning agents on these products. Only dusting is required!

    2. Fabric Sheers & Shadings - Vacuum gently using a brush attachment on any vacuum cleaner or blow away dirt and debris using a can of compressed air. A regular, light dusting is acceptable - but do NOT use magnetic cleaners such as a dusting mitt on light-dimming fabrics as it will damage the backing.

    3. Vinyl, Composite, and Plastic Products - Regular, light dusting using the provided microfiber duster. Only use mild soap and water for any spot cleaning needed.

    4. Removing Bugs - In the rare instance that a bug becomes trapped in your shade, use a can of compressed air or hairdryer on a cool setting to blow them out. Please resist sticking an item inside of your shade as this may harm the structure and/or fabric of the shade.

  • Yes, options like vinyl, faux wood, and solar shades are moisture-resistant and ideal for bathrooms and kitchens. Avoid natural materials like bamboo or fabric-based shades in high-humidity areas.

  • Yes! Cellular shades are particularly effective due to their honeycomb structure, which traps air to insulate your windows. Roller shades with blackout fabrics block heat, while solar shades reduce UV rays and glare, helping maintain indoor temperatures and protect furniture.

  • Not anymore! To keep our Bluegrass families and pets safe, new federal regulations as of June 2024 have officially phased out corded window treatments.

While it’s a big change for the industry, it’s a great one for home safety. Plus, today’s cordless and motorized options offer a much cleaner, more tailored look without the hassle of tangled strings. YAY for easy (and safe) windows!

What our clients are saying

With 20 years of experience helping our Bluegrass neighbors find the right fit, we’ve answered just about every question—and solved just about every window dilemma—there is.

“We purchased all the window treatments for our newly constructed townhome from The Blinds Man. From roller blinds to plantation shutters and a few things in between, they offered the best quality products. But what impressed us most was the personal service we received nine years after the original installations, when we had a few minor issues of different kinds. The manager followed through with us to be sure that everything was fixed to even better than the original installation. This kind of personal follow through is very rare and proves what an outstanding local business The Blinds Man is. We are lucky to have chosen them to do our work.”
